Fish-eye Photography of Man Holding Gray Cup

Why do you have to hear that stinking dishwasher? I mean, isn’t it so frustrating to have to speak up when you’re in conversation due to the dishwasher being so loud?

You shouldn’t have to deal with that type of situation when you can easily soundproof your dishwasher.

You see, many people have dishwashers that aren’t soundproofed, and boy do I think they wish they had one.

You may be one of those people that has a loud dishwasher, and has no idea how to fix the problem.

Well, you came to the right place! In this post, I’m going to show you how you can soundproof your dishwasher, and be able to tone it down when you are having a conversation with a friend or family member.

I’m going to give you a step by step formula to help you soundproof your dishwasher.

To soundproof your dishwasher correctly, make sure you follow the step by step formula so you get the best results.

I understand that having a loud dishwasher is frustrating, and you may be tempted to hire a professional soundproof your dishwasher for you.

I know it can be frustrating, but hiring a professional to soundproof your dishwasher could cost you hundreds, if not thousands of dollars.

There is no sense in hiring a professional if you can do it yourself for as little as a couple hundred dollars, maybe even lower than that.

It won’t take you long to soundproof your dishwasher either. The longest it will most likely take you is thirty minutes, and it may not even take that long.

If you want a quiet dishwasher and you don’t want to break the bank in order to hire someone to soundproof your dishwasher, I recommend doing it yourself.

Here is the step by step formula for soundproofing your dishwasher.

Step 1: Turn off the water, and unplug the dishwasher

The first step in soundproofing a dishwasher is turning off the water, and unplugging the dishwasher out of the outlet it is plugged into.

Turning off the water should be the first thing you do, because you’re going to be detaching the dishwasher from the water line.

You don’t want to have a flood in your kitchen because you forgot to shut off the water, so make that the first thing you do.

The next step is to remove the panel on the front of the dishwasher, I’ll explain it more in step two in case you don’t know what a panel is.

Step 2: Remove the panel on the front of the dishwasher

So in order to do this step, you open the door of the dishwasher, get a screw driver and remove the screws along the inside of the door. You then close the door, and carefully remove the front panel.

It’s that simple, it sounds harder than it actually is, but once you actually do it, you’ll realize that it’s pretty easy.

There are YouTube videos that will show you how to do it, so if you need to, look up how to remove a front panel on the dishwasher, and you’ll find all kinds of videos showing you how to do it.

YouTube has literally everything, so I am sure you’ll find someone that will show you how to remove a front panel.

The next step is to get a good measurement of the front panel, and purchase soundproof matting.

Step 3: Get a good measurement of the front panel, and purchase soundproof matting

After removing the front panel, you need to get a good measurement of the front panel, and purchase soundproof matting if you don’t already have some.

Getting a good measurement is important because in order to place the soundproof matting on the dishwasher, you have to measure the dishwasher to get the right amount of matting.

After you purchase the soundproof matting, you can then move onto step four.

Step 4: Place the panel back on the dishwasher

Place the front panel back onto the dishwasher, and get a screw driver to screw it back on.Once you’ve done that, you can now move onto step five.

Step 5: Unplug the dishwasher, and pull it out of the cabinets

If you have not done so already, make sure to unplug the dishwasher, and pull it out of the cabinets. You may need someone to help you with this, because the dishwasher can be heavy.

I don’t know what kind of dishwasher you have, or how heavy it is, but I do recommend you have somebody help you pull the dishwasher out of the cabinets.

The reason you should pull out the dishwasher from the cabinets is so you can place the matting over the dishwasher, I just wanted to point that out so you weren’t confused.

I know a lot of people who are reading this were going to try to put the soundproofing matting on the dishwasher when it’s still in the cabinets, and we all know that it won’t work.

Make sure your pulling the dishwasher out of the cabinets, so your able to put the soundproof matting on.

Once you have unplugged the dishwasher and pulled the dishwasher out of the cabinets, you can then move onto step six.

Step 6: Replace it with the new soundproof matting

After you have unplugged the dishwasher, and pulled the dishwasher out of the cabinet, it is now time to remove the old matting, and replace it with the new soundproof matting.

You cannot put the soundproof matting over the old matting because it will likely not fit under the cabinets if you have to pieces of matting on the dishwasher.

After removing the old matting, you can either keep in case you would need it, which I recommend you keep it, or you can throw it away.

You do what you think is best, but make sure you have enough soundproof matting to put on the dishwasher.

Make sure your using the measurement from the front panel to determine how much matting you need.

This is why you measured the front panel, so you know how much matting you need to put on the dishwasher.

The next step is placing the soundproof matting on the back of the dishwasher.

Step 7: place the soundproof matting on the back of the dishwasher

The next step is to place the soundproof matting on the back of the dishwasher. You cannot place it on the front, because that would look weird, and it will interfere with your ability to open the dishwasher.

Make sure your placing the soundproof matting on the back of the dishwasher, so you don’t have any issues is the future with opening the dishwasher.

This is very important, because you don’t want to have to take out the dishwasher, and have to do this all over again.

The next step is to put the dishwasher back into the cabinets.

Step 8: Put the dishwasher back into the cabinets

After you have placed the soundproof matting on the dishwasher, and placed the dishwasher back into the cabinets, you can then put the dishwasher back into the cabinets.

You may need a friend to help you place your dishwasher back into the cabinets, since it can be hard to do it with one person.

Step 9: Plug the dishwasher back in and turn on the water

The next step is to plug the dishwasher back in, hook the dishwasher back up to the waterline, and turn the water back on.

After you have done that, you have successfully soundproofed your dishwasher.
Let’s move onto step ten, which is monitoring the sound of the dishwasher.

Step 10: Monitor the dishwasher to make sure it has little to no sound

After you have soundproofed your dishwasher, give it a test run and listen to it run a little bit.

You should expect your dishwasher to be a lot quieter than before, and you should be able to easily carry on a conversation with your friend or family member without you having to speak up due to the dishwasher running.

Conclusion

Soundproofing a dishwasher may be easier than you think, and if you follow the steps in this post, you should successfully be able to soundproof your dishwasher.
