Now, I know many of you question whether weather stripping will work to reduce the sound, and I have some good news for you; it works great to reduce the sound as long as you install it correctly.
Why does weather stripping work great to reduce sound? It’s because when you install it inside your door, the material of the weather stripping is what helps reduce the sound.
Now, you can’t just put anything in your door and hope the sound reduces, you have to install a special type of material and that material would be weather stripping.
It is very important that your aware of the type of weather stripping there is, and I’m going to be revealing the different types of weather stripping down below.
What are the different types of weather stripping?
1. Foam filled weather stripping
Foam filled weather stripping is pretty much the same things a high density foam tape. This is a great type of weather stripping because it will really block the sound coming out of your door if you apply it right.
All weather stripping is installed the same way, there are just different types of weather stripping that you can use.
Foam filled weather stripping is not difficult to install. You may think it is, but the title can be misleading due to the title saying “foam filled” weather stripping.
It’s not as hard as you think, and it will do a great job blocking the sound out of the other room.Foam filled weather stripping is made of insulation and tape.
You can install this in doors or windows depending on where you want to install it. It will work for either one.

2. Self-Sticking spring metal
Self-sticking spring metals are a different type of weather stripping, and it is a lot thinner than the foam filled weather stripping.
However, it still works to reduce the sound, and it is easier to install. The foam filled weather stripping is also easy to install, but since it’s bigger, it maybe a little bit harder to install than the self-sticking spring metal weather stripping.
You can test out different options, and all of these options that I’m listing in this post are removable.
This is good news because if you don’t like a certain option, then you can just remove it, and go with a different option.
Self-sticking weather stripping is also a peel and stick type of weather stripping, and it’s self-sticking which means you won’t have to do much in order for the weather stripping to stay in your door or window.
This option is most likely the easiest one to install. With that being said, they are all easy, but this is the easiest one of all due to it being so thin.
3. Interlocking metal weather stripping
Interlocking weather stripping is also great for reducing sound, but it is most likely the hardest to install because it’s just metal that goes in the door or window.
I personally don’t recommend you go with this option due to it being the hardest to install.
However, there are some benefits to picking this option due to it being metal and hard to break.
It does do a good job reducing the sound as well, and I recommend you test it out because you may like it.
I personally would choose the other two options because those are just my tastes. However, you may think differently and want to choose this option.
My advice is to choose which works best for you.

Installing weather stripping is pretty self-explanatory, but I’ll reveal a step by step process to help you install weather stripping to your door or window in case your confused.
I don’t want anybody to be confused on how to install it, and I want you to be able to do it right so you can effectively block the sound out.
I’m going to reveal a step by step guide that you can follow to help you successfully install weather stripping.

The first step before you install your weather stripping is to open your door or window depending on where your installing the weather stripping at.
Now, I assume you already know this, but I thought it would be a good idea to point it out in case you happened to not know what to do first.

Getting out your weather stripping should be your next step after opening your door or window.
Don’t be afraid to try different options, because you never know what you like or don’t like. You can either get out your weather stripping before you open your doors or windows, or after, it really doesn’t matter how you do it.

This is very important because if you don’t measure the weather stripping correctly, then you risk not having enough for the inside.

If you want things to be easier, you have to apply the weather stripping on section at a time. It is still important to measure the area where your weather stripping will be, but I recommend you measure each section at a time.

Weather stripping is a great way to soundproof your door, and it is fairly easy to install. All of these options are great options for soundproofing your door.
My personal favorite is the first product which is the foam filled weather stripping. The reason this is my favorite is because I believe this type of weather stripping does the best job at soundproofing your door.
