How to Soundproof a car in 6 steps

Blue Bmw Sedan Near Green Lawn Grass

Did you ever think about soundproofing your car? Are you tired of your car being so loud all the time?

Well, I’ve got some good news for you! You can turn the loud car you have now into a luxury car following this step by step process I’m about to reveal to you.

Soundproofing a car is a lot of work don’t get me wrong. You have to make sure everything is pretty much perfect, and ready for the car to be soundproofed before you can soundproof it.

It’s also hard to soundproof your car because it is such a small space, and it’s hard to move around in a car.

However, I was kind of joking about the hard work, because you’re really not working hard to actually soundproof your car.

The real hard work comes when you’re trying to inspect your car, and move everything out of the way.
Things like removing the seats, floor mats, inspecting your car to see if there are any issues, those parts are the hardest parts.

The actual soundproofing is super easy that anyone can do it.

Hiring a professional to soundproof your car is silly, and it would be a poor investment to hire a professional on your part.

Why spend thousands of dollars on hiring a professional when you can do this job yourself.

Now I do suggest having help remove the seats from your friends or family, but that’s pretty much the only thing you’ll need help for.

Throughout this post, I’m going to reveal a step by step formula that you can follow that will help you every step of the way to successfully soundproof your car.

Soundproofing a car is very simple, but it is worth it in the end because you’ve just turned your loud car into a nice luxury vehicle.

If you’re ready to take the plunge in turning your loud car into a nice quiet luxury vehicle, follow the step by step formula below.

Step 1: Get your car inspected

The first step before you soundproof your car is to get your car inspected.

People get their car inspected once a year, but I’m not saying you have to have a professional inspect your car before you soundproof it.

What I am saying is take a look through your car and see if there’s anything wrong with it. It never hurts to look at your car for a few minutes to see if there are any problems with your car, and it would be a good investment of time on your part because you’ll be saving yourself time if you have any issues down the road.

It is very important to inspect your car before soundproofing, so you don’t run into any issues when you’re in the middle of soundproofing it.

Step 2: Remove seats in the car

After you look through your car to see if there were any issues, it is recommended that you remove the seats of your car. Now it is okay if you can’t remove all of the seats.

For example, the driver’s seat may not be removable, the passenger seat may not be removable either.

At least remove all of the back seats in your car, if you can remove the drives and passenger seat, do so because it will make the job a lot easier.

You may want to have someone help you do this step, because removing the seats yourself can be challenging, especially if the seats are difficult to get out.

Some of the seats in the car these days are extremely heavy as well, and need two people to be able to carry the seats.

After you have removed the seats in your car, you can now move onto step three which is gathering all the materials needed to soundproof your car.

Step 3: Gather all the materials needed

After you have removed the seats in the car, it is now time to gather all of the materials needed to soundproof your car.

Pretty much the only materials you’ll need is soundproof matting, and weather stripping for a car. You can find these two items on sites like amazon.

It is not required to have weather stripping, but it is highly recommended if you want to cut out the sound as much as possible.

The next step is to place fat mat soundproofing foam in your car.

Step 4: Place fat mat soundproofing foam

So, fat mat soundproofing foam will be the material you will need in your car.

In order to apply fat mat soundproofing foam to your car, you must take out the floor mat, place the soundproofing mat underneath the floor mat, and then put the floor mat back on.

It’s that simple, anyone can do it.

It’s a lot better than hiring a professional to soundproof your car which will cost you thousands of dollars.

Instead, you can do it yourself for less than two hundred dollars, which is great in my opinion. If you already have the materials, then you can do it for free!

Step 5: Place weather stripping in the car doors

The fifth step is to place weather stripping in the car doors. This step is not required, but it is recommended if you want to get the best results.

It never hurt to improve something, so I say go for it!

Weather stripping will also help keep the sound from coming through the doors, which is why I highly recommend it.

After you apply the weather stripping, you’ll be able to hear very little to no road noise whatsoever.

Step 6: Monitor the sound inside the car

The sixth step is to monitor the sound inside your car.

As your driving down the roadway, monitor the sound. Your car should become very quiet after you soundproof it, and you should be able to hear little to no road noise.

Conclusion

Well, that’s all I have for this post. Soundproofing a car is very simple, and doesn’t require much to do it, which is the reason for this short post.
